Biography
Although I developed a professional interest in photography within the last 5 years, I find that my previous experience in business, marketing, building development and design, and teaching, has given me a set of skills which help me to understand the needs of my clients.  I listen carefully to people's needs so that they get the results they are looking for and more.  I have experience of managing the production of brochures, direct mail, adverts, websites and other marketing pieces which helps me to see the images as part of a whole, and understand the variety of imagery that can be required to make a piece of marketing successful.

Studio Photography
I have worked extensively in a studio environment, particularly photographing more difficult objects such as craftwork, glass and metal. I have a well-equipped commercial studio with Bowens studio lighting and equipment which has lots of natural light or can be blacked out easily. Black or white Colorama background rolls can be pulled forward to make a cove effect for a seamless background.  An infinity studio table is used extensively to shoot products which can then be back lit if necessary for a luminous effect particularly good for transparent or transluscent products such as glass.
My camera equipment is high-end Canon digital SLR  - a Canon 1DMark 2 and a Canon 5D with professional grade long, standard, wide angle and macro lenses.

Location Photography
Shoots can take place wherever is appropriate, either using natural light or my full set of studio lighting, including two which can operate from a battery pack where access to power is a problem.

Interiors & Exteriors Photography
Interiors photography require a detailed understanding of lighting to get the most natural effects.  I work with up to 5 Bowens Gemini flash heads plus a variety of light formers that are used to make any interior look inviting. Knowledge of interior design helps me to help my clients make a room look its very best for the purposes of the image. 

Food Photography
Producing images for a Michelin starred restaurant is an exacting task and depends on the close cooperation between chefs and photographer, and making the best use of a mixture of natural and artificial light for the very best results.  Food shoots can be undertaken in a client's establishment, or food can be prepared and cooked in my studio location.
